Roberto Franzoni was born in Turin, and lives and works in Milan. Since the end of the 1960’s he started working with photography and, during the 1970’s he turned to fashion and internal design.
Since 1978 he entered the Mail Art world and participated in project “Amazonic Highways” at the 16th San Paolo Biennal Exhibition. He developed his artistic thought aimed towards the use of photography as an idea of painting due to the possibilities that digit techniques nowadays offer.
Passing through a print on canvas with interventions often in acrylic or other materials, his research developed towards a poetic form or reality.
He participated in the 2004 London Art Biennal and at the Gallarate Modern Art Gallery with the project “At the Mirror”, and to important events connected to Pierre Restany’s memorial at the 52nd Venice Biennal with “Room 312 memorial for Pierre” .
